How Countertop Installation Works, Step by Step

The countertop installation process

If you have never had countertops installed, the process can feel like a mystery. It is actually straightforward, and knowing the steps helps you plan your kitchen around it. Here is how a typical countertop project goes from start to finish.

Step 1: The In-Home Measure

It starts with a visit. We look at your kitchen or bath, talk through what you want, and take rough measurements. This is also when we compare materials and edge profiles with you and answer questions. You leave with a clear, itemized written quote.

Step 2: Choosing Your Material

Once you approve the quote, you pick your slab or color. For natural stone like granite, marble, or quartzite, it is worth seeing the actual slab, since every one is unique. For quartz, you choose from consistent engineered colors.

Step 3: Templating

Before fabrication, we make a precise template of your space. This is more exact than the first measure and ensures the seams, sink cutout, and overhangs land exactly right. Accurate templating is the difference between a tight fit and a sloppy one.

Step 4: Fabrication

Your material is cut to the template, the edges are shaped to your chosen profile, and the sink and any cutouts are prepared. This happens off-site and usually takes a short time.

Step 5: Installation

We remove your old counters, set and secure the new ones, join any seams, connect the sink, and install the backsplash. We protect your cabinets and floors throughout, and most installs are finished in a single day.

Step 6: The Final Check

Before we leave, we clean the surface, walk you through care for your specific material, and make sure you are happy with every detail.

That is the whole process. Ready to start? Call Freshcornercafe at (562) 872-3062 for a free in-home measure in Lakewood.
